Dog Leads

Our dog leads include padded 5ft leads, Lightweight Mini leads for small dogs, waterproof leads and hands-free double-ended leads. Every 5ft lead has an extra D-ring for a poo bag holder, and most come in the same designs as our harnesses and collars.

Types of dog lead

• Standard 5ft lead: the everyday walking length, about 152cm. Ours have a padded neoprene handle and an extra D-ring for a poo bag holder, in tweeds, plains and Colour Drops prints.
• Lightweight Mini lead: 5ft long and 1.5cm wide with a lightweight black clip, made for small dogs.
• Waterproof lead: 5ft with a waterproof handle, gold hardware and a lockable heavy-duty swivel clip. Browse waterproof dog leads or read our waterproof dog leads guide.
• Hands-free double-ended lead: 210cm of waterproof coated webbing that you can wear crossbody, around your waist or hold in your hand. What length of dog lead should you choose?

• 30cm traffic handle: for roads, gates and crowded pavements where you need your dog close. Our Traffic Handle Add-On comes in the hands-free complete set or on its own.
• 5ft: the standard for everyday walks, with enough slack for a relaxed walk while keeping your dog close near roads.
• 210cm hands-free: more room on quieter routes, and you can wear it so your hands stay free.
• 5 metre long line: recall training in open space only.

Lockable lead clips

A lockable clip can't be nudged open during a walk. Our standard 5ft Colour Drops leads have a lockable gold heavy-duty clip, and our waterproof leads, hands-free leads and 5M Long Line also have lockable clips. Our Forest Tweed, Oxford Tweed and Mulberry Tweed 5ft leads and our classic Trail & Glow leads use a black heavy-duty clip, which is not lockable. The Lightweight Mini leads have a lightweight black clip. Each product page lists the clip it uses.

Reflective dog leads

Trail & Glow leads such as The Khaki One, The Jet Black One and The Red Tartan One have reflective light stitching to help you be seen on dark morning and evening walks. Our tweed leads are not reflective.

Harness and lead sets

Most of our leads match a harness and collar in the same fabric. Our matching harness, lead and collar sets include dog harness and lead sets, such as Plum Tweed and Spellbound Autumn, and we also sell a waterproof lead and collar set. For dogs that pull, clipping the lead to a harness spreads the pressure across the chest instead of the throat; for dogs that walk calmly, a collar is fine. Dog lead questions

What length of dog lead is best for everyday walking? 5ft suits most dogs and most walks. It gives enough slack for a comfortable stroll while keeping your dog close enough to manage near roads.

Which of your leads have a lockable clip? Our standard 5ft Colour Drops leads, waterproof leads, hands-free double-ended leads and the 5M Long Line. Forest, Oxford and Mulberry Tweed 5ft leads are not lockable.

Can I attach a poo bag holder to the lead? Yes. Every 5ft lead has an extra D-ring for one of our poo bag holders, in matching designs.

Is a lead legally required in the UK? It depends where you are. Many councils use Public Space Protection Orders that require dogs to be on a lead in specific areas, and there are separate rules near livestock and on some beaches. Our UK dog lead laws guide explains where and when.
